Thank you for visiting our gofundme page. Bravery Blanky is a non profit organisation which provides hand knitted or crocheted blankets, hats, Hickman line bags, Hickman line vests and other essential items to children in Ireland diagnosed with cancer. Due to factors of location/timing or where they are in their treatment many children don't regularly attend St. John's Ward. We have set up this gofundme page to provide sponsorship for posting care packages to these children who miss out but would like a Bravery Blanky or some of our other products. We would also like to provide blankets to the siblings of our Angels from St. John's Ward. We are seeking sponsorship to cover the cost of postage and packaging and specialised cleaning products as cleanliness and hygiene is of the upmost importance to us. 100% of monies raised here will be used for the above purposes.
Is an independent non profit organisation set up and run by myself and my husband after our son was diagnosed with cancer aged 2.
Our mission is to provide some comfort to our littlest heroes who have been diagnosed with cancer and also their siblings. It is important to us that, as well as supporting the children we let the parents know that there are people supporting them during this terrible time.
We provide hand knitted and crocheted bravery blankets, Hickman line bags, vests (when available), hats, toys and other handmade essential items to children anywhere in Ireland diagnosed with cancer and their super siblings. We deliver these to St. John’s ward Crumlin and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda. We also post directly to children who cannot attend these hospitals due to their location or timing in treatment. Every product we deliver or post is sterilized and individually wrapped by us as we realise the importance of hygiene for the children. We also now receive requests from adult oncology patients for themselves or their children who have seen the comfort our Bravery Blankys have brought to the children from St. John’s. We provide new baby gifts to families who have had a child diagnosed with cancer. Ensuring that siblings of a child with cancer are honoured, supported and recognised so they may face the future with strength, courage and hope. We give seasonal gifts to the hospitals for the oncology children and we are currently running a Bravery Blanky Christmas toy appeal.
Along with our sister Facebook page 'Ireland’s Littlest Heroes'
which my husband and I also run,
we have managed through numerous events to raise over €25,000 for a number of Irish charities associated with childhood cancer. We have also ran toy appeals and fundraised for a wall mural in our local hospital Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda.
We also have a private page strictly for parents of children from St. John’s ward where we post pictures of our items and parents can contact us directly and confidentially.
We are delighted at how Bravery Blanky continues to grow and are extremely grateful to all of our volunteers throughout the country, and those who have donated to our organisation, without them it just wouldn’t be possible. We are already looking forward to future plans in the new year.
