Brave Berlin's medical costs

On Wednesday afternoon (April 27, 2016), Erica and Luke noticed a large lump on the side of Berlin’s abdomen. They took her in to see their doctor the next day and that is when the whirlwind began.
Berlin’s doctor didn’t like what she was feeling and wanted them to immediately go to OHSU to have an ultrasound to see what they were dealing with. As Erica watched the ultrasound tech take pictures of Berlin’s body, she could see something was not right. That's when they were told there was a tumor on Berlin’s kidney. From there they were admitted into the ER to do further testing and a CT Scan so they knew how to proceed forward. There was a bit of a scare with Berlin’s blood levels as she was anemic. But after analyzing, they were placed in oncology overnight and Berlin had a good rest.
Friday morning they found out the tumor was isolated to her left kidney (which is good news that it hasn’t spread further). They believe it is consistent with what is called a Wilms tumor.
On Monday (May 2, 2016) Berlin underwent surgery at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital to remove the tumor and kidney. Berlin is now recovering from the surgery.
As you can imagine, this is a parent’s worst nightmare. Luke and Erica have had moments of paralyzing fear, but also moments of complete peace. They have a tremendous support system and an army of prayer is warriors for Berlin. They are hopeful that she will fight this and come out totally healed on the other end. Berlin is greatly loved, not only by all of us, but by her Heavenly Father. We are expectant and eager to see what miracle God wants to perform in all of this.
Right now we are not sure what the cost will be for this entire journey. But we are praying in faith that HE PROVIDES! Our initial guess is that it will be around $10,000 out of pocket.
