Hi Friends and Family,
It's official - we're adopting!
As some of you may know, we have been trying for nearly a year to have a child. Adoption was always a consideration in our dream of having a family and, after failed attempts to conceive a child, we decided to pursue adoption.
We are thrilled to announce that Lifelong Adoptions approved our application for adoption and accepted us a client!!!
So you are probably wondering what's next.
Well, our profile book is currently being shown to birthmothers to see if we are a possible match. As you can imagine, this is nerve wracking for us. In the meantime, we are working through the home study process. And waiting very, very patiently for our new addition, which could take anwhere between 6-12 months. A match could always happen sooner, though.
As you can imagine, adoption is expensive. While we have the bulk of the costs covered, we will have some additional expenses (airfare and hotel) that we are hoping for assistance with. Our baby could be born in any state in the US, so we will travel to that state when the birthmother goes into labor. We will also be required to stay in a hotel in that state for up to 2 weeks until we get clearance to travel with the baby. Because the adoption process can be unpredictable, we need to be ready to go the minute the phone rings.
So, we ask if you would consider helping us out by donating towards our adoption. We ask that you would share this on Facebook and Twitter. We are hoping to raise the money by the end of February.
