You'll be helping someone with a heart of gold, is how I'd like to start out Brandee's story. She's the widow of, Mike Cotton, a firefighter who just passed away a year and a half ago, the loving mother of 2 sons, and a dear friend to many!
To watch my childhood friend go through what she's experiencing, after having to bury her husband less than 2 years ago, just feels so unfair. She's currently undergoing chemo (radiation next) in her fight to dispell the ugly "C" word from her body-she has breast cancer.
I felt compelled to set her up with a GoFundMe account after spending the evening with her talking about the long road ahead of her and the medical expenses she's already accumilated in such a short period of time. She was hesitant at first, as she's a very modest & humble person. Being a nurse, her personality is to always put others first and to help out anyway she possibly can. So getting help from others is not something she would go out of her way to ask for.
Unless we are going through something like this ourselves, we have NO idea the amount of daily stress she must be dealing with. Wondering if she's going to completely rid herself of this disease, then on top of that, having to worry if she can pay her medical bills and daily expenses. These donations will hopefully help alleviate some of that stress.
