Brand new mom, Laura, fights cancer

My name is Larran Eppard and I am asking for your help with my daughter, Laura's, Breast Cancer fight. I have never been one to ask for help, however, at this time my daughter really needs your support.

                                     LAURA'S  STORY
Laura Eppard Vanalstine was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma during her 34th week of pregnancy. The tumor grew very quickly and Laura was diagnosed with stage 2 triple negative cancer.

After meeting with a surgical oncologist, it was decided that the tumor she had was too large to operate on . Chemotherapy would be needed to reduce the size of the tumor so it could then be removed. Laura’s hormones were feeding the cancer at an alarming rate and she was not due for another 6 weeks.

Her surgical oncologist, Dr. Donohue, discussed this with Laura’s medical oncologist as well as her OBGYN. After further testing, it was decided that the baby had to be delivered early so Laura could start chemotherapy immediately.

Laura was induced 4 weeks early on March 2nd at 8 am and finally delivered a beautiful and healthy baby girl at 7:33 PM on March 3, 2017. Summer Ann Vanalstine was indeed a miracle as she came out at 18.5 inches and 6lb 1oz and is doing great. Now it was time for the next hurdle-getting Laura’s treatment started.

Laura came home with Summer Ann on Sunday, March 5th for a little rest and some time with baby. She was back at the hospital on the morning of Thursday, March 9th to have her chemo port installed and started chemo that afternoon.

Laura is in good spirits considering all that has happened and it seems the treatments and prayers are making a difference in the size of the tumor, however, only time will tell what other treatments will be required.  We do know that either radition or surgery is in her future, maybe both.

HOW TO HELP THE VANALSTINE FAMILY
Now for the next hurdle, Laura will most likely be out of work for at least six months, maybe more to undergo treatment and the bills are piling up. Laura and her husband, Matthew, were dependent on two incomes to keep their bills paid. With Laura out of work and the unexpected bills from her cancer treatments, they could use your help. Please consider donating to Laura’s fight against cancer.  Also, if you would please keep her in your prayers, we would greatly appreciate that.
