Braden's Journey
Braden Roberts is a fun-loving 9 year old boy who lives in Colorado. He loves to play basketball, video games, and visit the Summit Arcade Place. He has 2 older brothers named Justin and Colby. His parents, Garrett and Jennifer Roberts all live in Pueblo West, CO.
On January 4, 2016, Braden woke up to intense lower abdominal pain. He was taken to the ER to check his appendix. After 4 hours of testing and a CT scan, the appendix was fine. However, the doctors discovered Braden had 3 enlarged lymph nodes the size of golf balls. Following a later scan, the lymph nodes had not decreased. The next week, a biopsy was performed. Then the phone call came Braden had neuroblastoma and it was malignant. He also had a bone marrow biopsy which ruled no cancer in his bones. Two days later a MIBG scan determined the cancer was centralized in his abdomen...stage 3.
He soon had surgery to receive his power port which accesses IV fluids, medicines, chemo & blood transfusions. Chemotherapy began March 1, 2016. Presently, he is losing his hair and will soon begin his 2nd chemo treatment (2 meds every day for 5 days). Monthly treatments will most likely continue throughout the summer, followed by surgery, bone marrow transplant, and radiation. The family presently all travels to The Children's Hospital (13123 E 16h Ave., Aurora, CO) in Denver area for Braden to receive treatments.
During this most difficult time, family, friends, and acquaintances have already come along side and are sharing in this journey with them. I, Julie Potter, am overwhelmed by your goodness to my little nephew. People are praying everywhere! I am meeting a group of folks in Greer, SC this Saturday, who called me, to come and pray with them for Braden. God is good!
Garrett and Jennifer appreciate your continued prayers as they travel down this path of unknowns. We serve a God who is all mighty, all knowing, and loving. Their family wants God's power and glory to be revealed through Braden's journey.
