Hope Through Education Haiti Project

Donation protected

We are students at Morningstar University, a leadership school dedicated to raising up the next generation of Christian leaders. We are partnering with Elaine Rensink, a graduate of the university and the founder of Lespri Ministries in Leogone, Haiti.   While a student at MorningStar University, Elaine traveled to Haiti and her heart broke for the children stuck in poverty and unable to get an education due to high school fees and the cost of mandatory school uniforms.  As a former Special Education Teacher, she decided to make a difference by building her own school where the students could get a quality education for free.

That was four years ago. Today, Elaine has over 150 students and her school offers one of the only computer lab in the region. The facility also offers sewing classes for the purpose of vocational training.  She is providing high-quality education and spiritual training with the goal of breaking the cycle of poverty by raising up young leaders to bring real and lasting change to Leogone - and ultimately, all of Haiti.

Elaine is currently renting a building for her school, but the number of students enrolled means they are  fast outgrowing the facility and need room to grow. She would like to take the money used to rent the school building and pour it back into the students by building a bigger and better school.  Elaine recently acquired a plot of land big enough for a new school building and has started to prepare the land for construction.  Her dream is to build a brand new campus that will provide a place for many more students to get a quality education and launch them into a new future with real skills and new hope.

$75,000 is all that is needed to complete the initial phase of construction and move the students into the new facility.

This money will pay for:

      1.  Construction of the new school building to accommodate the increasing enrollment.
      2. The construction of an 8ft wall around the perimeter of the property to secure the school building and their supplies and equipment from theft .  This is important as the school exists in a high-crime area.
      3.  Solar panels and batteries for the school in a region that exists on only 20 hours of power a week.

All the money donated here goes directly to Lespri Ministries to fund this building project.

Your contribution will change the lives of young children now and for many years into the future.  Donate today to help us break the cycle of poverty in Haiti through the power of education.
