LOVE FOR LOGAN PHELPS

Hi everyone, Logan is our 9 year old son who is in desperate need of new hearing aids. His current ones are 4 years old and they typically last between 3 and 5 years. We are spending a lot of money sending them away for repairs so they recommended new ones. With braces for Brianna and Steven in the works, Kelsey's medical bills and Logan's medical bills we are finding it virtually impossible to come up with the large amount of money needed for the aids. A little about bout our family for those of you who don't know us. My husband Rob and I have been married for 11 years this October. We have a yours, mine and ours family. When we met he had two children and I had two children. We had custody of all of the kids and raised them together in our home:) in 2005 we had a baby and named him Logan. He's the BEST!!!! hes so loving and caring and helpful to everyone.. Logan is deaf and needs hearing aids in order to get through his daily life!!! He is an honor roll student and needs his aids to help him continue the good work!!! every little bit counts even if it's $5.00... I really don't like asking people for help but we have tried everything else. My husband and I together make too much money for him to receive SSI or state insurance even though we have a family of 7. Crazy huh, especially with the outstanding medical costs for our daughters epilepsy. Between Drs., specialists and medical equipment we are virtually struggling and we make good money!!! It's sad... Were asking for everyone to donate a couple dollars to help us get our big guy some new, cool hearing aids. The aids will be purchased at CHOP in Pennsylavania as that is where Logan has had all his care and where we purchased the other things:) thank you so much fot your time and thanks for any help you can give us!!!! Xoxoxoxo

Update 18

We are still working on getting Logan's aids!!! He had 2 infections in his ears for a couple weeks and now he has a hole I'm his ear drum. We have been to the ENT, audiologist and regular doc more times than I can count. Constant traveling, copays, meds are really putting a damper on things. It's sad but he cannot be tested or fitted for new hearing aids until the hole closes... And Now we have another hearing aid that's not working. These hearing aids have really seen better days!!! Of course when I send it away it's gonna be another$213 on top of everything else. And that's IF they will fix it just one more time before the new ones get ordered!!!! It's sad and frustrating and has cost hundreds of dollars for this awful journey. Just wanted to keep everyone updated on Logan's progress!!!! He can't wait to get NEW ONES, he's super excited!!!

We have to raise the Fundraiser amount!! Unfortunately Logan nor Olivia can accept any of the free hearing aids offers. UNLESS SOMEONE CAN OFFER US PHONAK AIDS AND FM SYSTEM(roger) It will be about $7000 each and that's a guess. We also want to help others who need aids.. We will be selling Lemonade this weekend!!! I'm gonna try to get Logan on a Main Street so wagers. Also Olivia will be hosting a car wash. I will get that info for you ASAP. Thank you so much for all the offers we truly appreciate it. We are meeting people everyday who could use help. Please let me know if your willing!!!!
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING OUR FAMILY IS TRULY BLESSED!!!!

It's looking like we will have to go ahead and purchase new hearing aids and a new fm system. I wasn't told when we bought the first ones that the fm system might have to be updated when we buy new aids.
Also found out that Oticon and Phonak are the ones that are best for him right now still being in pediatric stages.
There's so much to consider and I'm so very greatful for all the hearing aid offers but we have to follow a pediatric route since Logan is still learning and developing new skills especially speach skills everyday!!!
It's kind of getting a little crazy and a bit overwhelming!!!

This is awesome! I wish back in the day, I'm 34 now, we had something like this! I actually set up an account a month or 2 ago to raise money to purchase a set for myself but had no luck, however, it makes my heart happy to see that raised above and beyond for your hearing aides! :) Good luck Logan!

Logan you are a wonderful kid!!! What an awesome thing you have done! We have two little girls one is 8 and the other is 5 with bilateral hearing aids and are from South Jersey. We totally understand the expense to have hearing aids! It's so sad to think of how many kids are in the same situation as you. Our insurance finally changed their policy after we had purchased the 2nd pair so keep writing and fighting like you are! So proud that you are able to help another child out you are awesome!!

Hi Logan, I am nineteen years old and completely deaf. I wear two cochlear implants so I understand how hard it is to come up with all the money. It breaks my heart when families can't afford this kind of stuff for their kids and I cried when I saw how much was raised for you. Good luck and enjoy your new hearing aids

Hey man. I've been wearing hearing aids since I was 3. I am now 40. I have a profound high-frequency hearing loss in both ears. I am a weightlifter, counselor, and professional musician, and I am working on my 2nd and 3rd masters degrees. I am an entrepreneur at heart. I'm saying all of this because I want to encourage you to keep fighting and keep going. All my life people have underestimated me because of my hearing loss and because of my slight speech impediment. You can do and be anything you want to. Be sure and check out Audibel Hearing aids. I bought the platinum class model and they are the bomb. Good luck bro. :) Fight on.

I have a pair of Phonak Naida hearing aids that I would love to donate to Logan, if they are what he needs. My son is 20 months and was implanted with a CI on June 27, 2014. Therefore, we don't need them now. My son wore them from the time he was 4 months until June, 2014. I have another pair that were donated to me that quite possibly be donated to the little girl that was mentioned in the article that I read. Additionally, my husband and his whole family are from NJ. I would live to be able to help.

Logan have you tried contact OVR (Office Vocational Rehabilitation) which I use in PA. I am hearing impaired in both ears with 76-85% hearing loss and they help me getting new hearing aids every two years. I don't even use insurance for my hearing aids. For in New Jersey should have one too. I think its the is http://www.state.nj.us/humanservices/ddhh/home/index.html They will help you get new hearing aids, or even wouldn't cost you a penny. You should have your parents call to get more information. Good Luck and hope you get new ones soon.
