BPS Alumni Support RAICES Texas

$13,948 of $25,640 goal

Growing up at Berkeley, we were often reminded of the school’s creed: Berkeley puts people in the world who make a positive difference. The impact of this mission statement is apparent in our alumni, with many of us choosing to fight injustice in our professions — as lawyers, labor organizers, nonprofit professionals, health advocates, and journalists — but for all of us, not a day goes by that we do not consider the impact of our actions, or inactions, upon the world around us.

For this reason, we would be remiss to stay silent now. Today, we are condemning the policies resulting in the separation of children from their families at the US-Mexico border, implemented and enforced by Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen — known to us as Kirstjen Nielsen Class of 1990.

As graduates of Berkeley Preparatory School, we pledge our dollars to RAICES Texas, an organization committed to providing free and low-income legal services to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees. Join us in supporting RAICES and vocally condemning the complacency of Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen.

WOW! We have already surpassed $10,000 in less than two days. Huge thanks and love to everyone for supporting, but we aren't done yet.

We are raising our goal again, this time to a pretty significant number.

The cost of Berkeley Prep's yearly tuition.

For students grades 9-12, Berkeley charges $25,640. So we're going to match that and put the money to, perhaps, a better use.

Again, your support has floored all of us working on this campaign. This isn't a political issue; it is a human rights issue. No matter whether you were Cope or Mitre, we can all get behind that.
