We are rounding out another successful year at the Boys & Girls Club of the Long Beach Peninsula, and since we have seen so much growth in the past three years, we have decided that it’s time to build and bolster our Summer Program.
We know that the long summer break can be detrimental for kids both academically and socially. We want to provide fun, hands-on learning opportunities for our members, as well as an opportunity for our kids to see their friends in a safe, positive, supervised environment.
But in order to carry out our plans, we are going to need the support of our community. Our members only pay $25 for a full 12 months at BGC and we estimate that our cost per member will be around $200 for a full six-week summer program. We currently have over 70 kids signed up for summer, so we have quite a gap to fill!
Please consider sponsoring one of our members for this summer. As I mentioned, for the full six-week program our cost will fall around $200 per member, but you can make a difference with just $35 – enough to sponsor one member for a week of summer program! We would also like to offer transit passes for our kids who are able to ride the bus. This cost will be $20 per member for a two-month student pass.
