Support BOOST by Born Just Right

Tax deductible

Hi! I’m Jordan Reeves, and I’m the co-founder of Born Just Right. It’s a non-profit that helps kids with disabilities learn how to combine their differences with design. We hold workshops where cool ideas come true like my invention of a 3D printed Project Unicorn that shoots biodegradable glitter!

These are the kids who attended our most recent workshop during the Cambridge Science Festival in Massachusetts. One of our previous workshops was featured on NBC Nightly News and in Marvel's Hero Project!

Thanks to my
birthday fundraisers and other donations, we are able to cover travel expenses and resources so attendees can take part in our workshop. (Sometimes big companies host us like Autodesk and Microsoft. Google was our workshop partner one time and there are always a lot of volunteers.)

Really cool ideas come out of these workshops. My friend, Anaiss, came up with a simple way to lift her wheelchair a little so she can reach stuff. Sydney is working on an LED light system that works with her BMX racing bike arm. Kenzie created a beautiful arm that has a light-up gem called “Operation Crystal.” Kenzie's work and my Project Unicorn are even on display at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago!

At one of our workshops, Isaiah developed Wolverine claws and he said the experience was a chance "to learn so many things that I never thought that I would even get to learn."

"The BOOST workshop has given Anaiss the confidence that she can do and accomplish all her goals in life and she is now certain that her disability will NOT keep her from making her dreams come true," explains Anaiss' grandma, Leticia. "She is aware that the only disability in life is a bad attitude and I am so grateful and proud of her for thinking this way. I believe that this transformation is all due to the BOOST workshops!!"

We have always funded BOOST by Born Just Right workshops with the help of donations like the ones we get from GoFundMe.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me as we’ve grown our organization. I’m so proud of Born Just Right and I can’t wait to see what we can do in the next year.

I hope to raise money on GoFundMe because it takes at least $3500 for one local kid to attend a BOOST event. Participants and one parent do not have to pay to attend. Here's a look at the big cost breakdown:

We have a big plan for all of the kids who attend our events. We hope every person who attends BOOST by Born Just Right who falls in love with design will have a chance to use these skills and meet potential employers. BOOST kids are future STEAM-skilled employees!

Because of this, Born Just Right hosted some of our workshop alumni to launch our own youth design consultancy called Make Just Right this summer! After I got to consult Mattel on a new Barbie that uses a prosthetic leg, I knew other kids who participated in BOOST can also work with companies to share their knowledge and perspective.

Check out Born Just Right's website to learn more about the work we're doing!

P.S. If you're curious, I wrote a book that came out earlier this year. It is the same name as our nonprofit, BORN JUST RIGHT. The book is all about my story and it includes how I created Project Unicorn. I hope I encourage all kinds of kids to come up with fun ideas.
