Boozer needs your help!

Within the past few months, my family and I have noticed a change in our family dog's vision. He'd run around like crazy, but couldn't seem to find his toys on the ground directly in front of hi
m. After a visit to the vet, we were told that he has cataracts in both eyes. He's completely blind in his one eye and, in the near future, will be completely blind in the other as well. The only option for Boozer to possibly get his vision back would be to undergo surgery to remove the cataracts.

But I want let you in on how Boozer became part of our family, five and a half years ago. My dad had talked about getting another dog, but we chalked it up to being a mid-life crisis and laughed about it (sorry Dad). Then one of his co-workers found a 7 month old Boxer pup running on the side of a highway in Cleveland and took him in. She lived in an apartment and couldn't keep him, so my dad decided to bring him home. He was covered in scars on his face and on his legs and flinched anytime someone raised their voice or moved too quickly. He even growled at us the first time we met. Obviously he had been through alot, but we were able to give him a home, a giant yard to run freely and a few other dogs to play with (and annoy, in tru
e Boxer fashion).

For Boozer to only be 6 years old and nearly blind, it's heartbreaking for our family. Fortunately his yard is pretty open for the most part with only a few obstacles, but there isn't a day that goes by where he doesn't accidently walk into the fence or even hesitate before going up and down stairs. He will even walk as close as he can to my dad while they're walking through the yard, using him as a guide. To think that he won't be able to run as freely as he does, because of his vision loss, is painful for us to watch. He's still a happy, bouncy, crazy Boxer but by having the cataracts removed to possibly give him another chance at sight would mean the world to my family. We already see him losing his confidence as he is trying to adjust to his rapid vision loss. He's lost his independence for the most part and clings to his family and his toys as a security blanket.

I'll be honest, my parents don't ask for help often. I can maybe recall a handful of times in my 30 years that they reached out for assistance. So when they made the decision to at least try to get the surgery done for Boozer, I knew how much this truly means to them to be able to do this for their pup. I also knew they couldn't afford the hefty price tag for the surgery, follow up appointments or medications. We would truly be so grateful for any little help to make this surgery more feasable. With his vision rapidly deteriorating, we would need the funds as soon as possible to get the ball rolling on his visit with a speciali
st. Sincerely, we appreciate the support from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you!
