Body Battleground
Body|Battleground is an intersectional art exhibition with a bodily autonomy focus. after a successful campaign to find a diverse group of artist we are fundraising to pay our artists, the gallery and for basic admin fees.

we are an entirely grass roots organisation and are relying on community funding. please dig into those pockets and pull out a few fivers (or fiftys :o) to support socially conscious art that values artists enough to pay them. #bodybattle2018

The paintings have been taken down, the lights have been turned off, the equipment has been returned. The gofundme has been closed and the artists have been paid.

Thank you so much to everyone who made Body | Battleground 2018 a resounding success. It was a long journey to get to this point but by the end it really felt like the whole community came together to make our dream of having a vibrant, intersectional visual culture that values art and artists enough to pay them a reality.

We're all taking a well deserved break now but we will be back to post some updates from the exhibition. We hope to be back next year if we can get outside funding and we're thinking about what else we can do to build off this platform.

big love #bodybattle2018

we're so relieved to have hit our reduced funding goal, thanks so much to everyone who donated. we can now afford to pay everyone involved (arts and admin) a flat fee and cover all the exhibition costs euro instead of just covering our basic costs. we've updated the fundraiser back to the original amount now, the more we make the more we can afford to give back to the artists and the people who've working super hard to make this vision real. it would be really great to get back to paying everyone 250 euro like we originally committed!! so if you were looking for a way to give back there's still a chance! ☺️ thanks again everyone your generosity gives us great hope for #intersectionalart and a culture we're we #payartists.

Dearest Donors,

First of all, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for supporting Body | Battleground!

Thanks to your help, the campaign is edging ever closer to our target at €1,160!

Those of you who have donated over €30 to the campaign may have noticed that we have written your name up on our WALL OF ACCLAIM, which can be seen on our facebook and twitter. It will also be there irl at the exhibition.

To anyone who happens to be up north, we're holding a fundraiser in The Magnet Centre, Newry, which promises scintillating performances and cozy goodies.

Also, we've got some more interviews up for our series of 'Coffee Chats', which we hope you enjoy. Most recently we caught up with spoken word artist Sahar Ali (aka 'Saharcasm'). Be the first to see the interview here:

We also had a wee chat with textile artist and activist with Radical Queers Resist Sadhbh Murphy, which you can check out here:

We also had a discussion with Stephanie Costello on The Suss podcast, and we'll be sharing that with you once it's up.

Hope all of you wonderful people have a glorious day! Please keep spreading the word and we look forward to bringing you a meaningful and empowering exhibition.

Hello all you lovely supporters of #intersectionalart!

First thing by way of updates is that we are now at €505! Amazing! So gaining momentum but a way to go yet. Keep liking and sharing our posts and using the hashtag #bodybattle2018 to spread the word, and we look forward to getting you your rewards.

If you haven't seen it already, we've posted our interview with Ronan Clarke up on the social media channels. Ronan's background is in philosophy and film history, and here he discusses the stigma in representation of disability. It's a touching, engaging and enlightening interview and we hope you enjoy it.

Keep it cool,
