BODY POSITIVE & SELF-LOVE CAMPAIGN

My name is Martina Desire'e Maya-Callen and I am an artist who wants to make a difference in the world. Last year during National Eating Disorder Awareness Week I presented my public installation sculpture and performance piece, "The Hidden Secret of Eating Disorders," in which it displayed what it is like to have an eating disorder and negative body image issues on the inside of the sculpture, meanwhile on the outside of the sculpture was made of white board for the community to write messages of body positivity and self-love. The local public community was impacted by this piece and it ended up going viral spreading a message of body acceptance, self-love and body positivity throughout the world! 

I NEED to continue this message. I have an action plan for this year to educate and spread awareness, while empowering individuals and encouraging self-love!

Love Your Vessel Program: The primary goal of this program is to assist in igniting the fire of body acceptance and self-love through workshops! Inspiring individuals to LOVE their vessel, while educating them on mental health illness, media literacy, and breaking the silence. 

Bikini Body Billboard: I am working on to take over a billboard on route to the beach and fill it with POSITIVITY! At the beach, people are often have thoughts in the back of their mind regarding their insecurities and I want everyone to know that they are BEAUTIFUL! This will cover the billboard being up for 4 weeks during the sumer (when I believe the message is most neccesary). 

Art Show During National Eating Disorder Awareness Week and Self-Injury Awareness Day: This art show will take place the last week of Feburary and the first week to spread awareness for mental health! With this, I will be providing screenings for eating disorders.  If funding allows, I will also hold my Hidden Secret of Eating Disorders Sculpture and Performance in city.
