BOB KNUCKEY KONA IRONMAN 2018 RACE

$11,050 of $7,500 goal

Raised by 58 people in 6 months
Created July 18, 2018
I am one of 70 year old Bob Knuckey's coaches and biggest fans.  Bob has the unique opportunity, in Kona Hawaii in Oct, to become the fastest 70 year old ever in the Hawaii Ironman's 40 year history.

Bob has qualified for the 2018 Hawaii Ironman and is doing everything in his power to show what a 70 year old man can do.  What is the human limits of a 70 year old in the world's hardest, one day endurance event.

The funds raised are to help offset Bob's preparation, travel, medical and accommodations as he is in the final stages of a five year journey to the 2018 Hawaii Ironman men's 70+ race on Oct 13th.

The funds that have been raised will help Bob in the following ways.

1.   Ironman Kona Qualification Race (Texas)
2.   Ironman Kona Race Entry (Kona Oct 13th)
3.   Ironman Mt Tremblant Race Entry (Aug 19th)
4.   Transportation to Ironman Mt Tremblant & Accommodations
5.   Medical physic-massage for injury prevention
6.   Kona warm-weather heat-humidly Camp in Tucson (accommodations, pool, flight)
7.  Airline ticket to Kona
8.  Accommodations in Kona
9.  Kona Transportation
10. Equipment upgrade (Race Suit & Chain for Bike)
11.  Thank you t-shirt to all Bob Knuckey Ironman supporters
12.  Any net proceeds to go to the C3 youth training program

The best 2 dozen men in the world over the age of 70 will be in Kona trying to become the World Champion.  Bob Knuckey has worked for a decade for this opportunity to try to win the World Championship and become the first man to race under 12hrs at Kona (over the age of 70).  Bob is so grateful that those who believe in him and his incredible commitment to being world class. The support from FRIENDS OF BOB KNUCKEY have given him the opportunity to only focus on training and preparing for the event .

With Bob's VISA bills starting to come in, and new ones to be built up soon, I am doing a withdrawal this week so I can send Bob a cheque to cover the many expenses he has had (and will have) on the way to Kona. This will include race entries, accommodations, upgrading his bike, massages, and final prep camps. Bob is in the best shape he has ever been (in his triathlon life) and is doing Ironman Mt Tremblant in 10 days as a final key learning race (he will do the swim and bike at race pace and run just 10km so that he can recover before Kona). We will keep pictures and newsletters and social meeting postings over the next 8 weeks on the way to Kona. As Bob's coach and mentor, I can't thank you enough for raising the funds to allow him to train for this iconic opportunity. Sincerely. Barrie Shepley (proud coach of Bob Knuckey)
