Bo's Rally Against Cancer

Donation protected
If you’ve had the fortune of meeting Bo, you’re likely here because you know he’s one of the kindest people out there. Many people know him as the guy with “a twinkle in his eye” that would “give a stranger the shirt off his back.” These statements could not be more true, and today, he needs your help.

Background

In 2002, Bo was diagnosed with liver disease brought on by a rare form of hepatitis. He spent the next year going through a sadly unsuccessful and grueling round of Interferon treatment before eventually being diagnosed with liver failure and cirrhosis in 2005.  He spent the majority of the next 8 years fighting this illness while waiting on the transplant list in Texas to no avail (all while, true to his steady and reliable nature, getting up and going to work everyday like clockwork at 5am).

Sadly, in the state of Texas, few people on the transplant list ever receive the healthy livers they so desperately need.

In late 2011, at the encouragement of many qualified and caring practitioners and with the support of loving friends and family, Bo packed up and temporarily relocated to Indiana where his chances of getting a liver were slight better. In February of 2012, he was diagnosed with liver cancer, which pumped him up to the top of the list, and within days he was blessed wth a healthy liver.

Since then, Bo has been able to return to many of his favorite pastimes. Most enthusiastically, he has returned to the road with his beloved ’78 Shovelhead for many long rides alongside my mom, his brother Jim and many other beloved friends in the Dallas biker scene.

Until now. Stage IV Cancer...

In January of 2017, doctors found a large tumor protruding from Bo’s liver into his heart. After many tests, they discovered that he has stage IV cancer in both his lungs and his liver. Unfortunately, they have rendered his tumor inoperable due to it’s location.

But there's treatment.

Bo is now preparing to fight the good fight. In March of 2017, Bo will begin chemo and radiation treatment at MD Anderson in Houston. Despite being well insured, the treatment is still going to cost several thousand dollars out-of-pocket. There will also be a significant financial burden associated with travel and lodging to the treatment center in Houston, as well as the debt that he and my mom will accrue due to his loss of income while undergoing treatment.

Without this treatment, doctors do not predict that Bo will make it very long.

Can you help?

First, thank you for reading this far. And second, if you can contribute to Bo’s medical fund we will be beyond eternally grateful. We are hoping to reach our goal of $25K by May of 2017 to offset the expenses of his treatment. Your donation will contribute to the out-of-pocket expense of Bo’s medical bills, as well as all of the other costs associated with his loss of income. We will also graciously accept any thoughts and prayers you can send our way!

Thank you all so much.
