Lung Cancer Fundraiser Dawn Huffman

Donation protected

3/14/2018- UPDATE: Dawn is out of surgery, surgery went great, they were able to clear all the margins without taking her entire lower lobe in her lung! Thank you everyone for your continued prayers.
Dawn being single and the only supporter in her circle, will be unable to work minimum 1 month to possibly 3 months, she will need some financial support to help her over the hump, still recovering from the financial setback from her original Breast Cancer Surgery and all the complications that went along with it. So if you can, please donate, if you can

3/12/2018********LUNG CANCER*******************
Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer in the Lung.

As you read this, Dawn will be undergoing a very scary surgery. They will be cutting pieces of her lower Lobe in her Right Lung, in hopes to get the cancer that has showed up there.
We put on a wonderful Fundraiser for Dawn Huffman, not nearly 2 years ago, Resulting from her diagnosis of Breast Cancer, the Type: Hormone Receptor Triple Negative. This type is much more difficult to treat The chances of recurrence are much greater. Well, it has happened! It came back in her lung.

There just ins't enough time for a Musical event. The urgency of the surgery has her going in Tuesday, at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow morning, March 13. She only has two part time jobs and has already been told she will be out of work a minimum of 1 month if not 2 or 3. She will need some financial support to get her over the hump and focus on the getting better aspect of this situation, while giving her some comfort to know she will still be able to live in her apartment and buy groceries. So I AIN'T TO PROUD TO BEG. If you can, please donate, and also please keep her in your prayers.

Can you even wrap your head around the words "I have Lung Cancer"

updated april 17, 2017I cant believe it was one year ago today that we had a Fundraiser for my dear friend Dawn Huffman who was battling Breast Cancer. What a year it has been.
I want to thank again my dear friends, the musicians and all that helped put this event together. You are a blessing :)

Quick update: Dawn just had some surgery on her wrist (due to complications from an error on the Nurse's part of leaking the chemo under her skin instead of the vein)....for almost a year, she has not been able to bend her wrist and has endured a years worth of therapy to no avail This recent surgery they took fat cells from her belly through her belly button and injected them into her wrist. After a few months they will see it it worked, if not, major surgery comes next. And a slight scare of a shadow on her lung finally after months of waiting for approval, turned out to be reisdual from radiation and all is fine with that.

She again has MONTHS of pain and procedures to battle this wrist issue The go fund me account is still acitve, if you are able, please donate, Anyone ever try to put a Bra on with one hand???? that and lots of other things we take for granted are a real chore for her and will be if she gets the next surgery and will not be able to work.

UPDATE 07/21/2016
Dawn has Triple Negative Breast Cancer, a very rare and aggressive cancer

Yet Dawn’s approaching the end of her Chemotherapy!!!   A long long road towards recovery with several major bumps/or perhaps I should say boulders in the road.  Someone said to her recently…” wow that went so fast its already July, you started in November…man time flies….!”  And Dawn told me she responded…”it did not fly for me, it was the longest, hardest, most fatigued and painful, sick and lonely time I have ever experienced; not to leave out some of the most frustrating events to endure while suffering from all these side effects. The events are below for you to read if you wish, yet you may not have the time so the point of this post is to remind you that she still has close to 3 months of treatments still ahead: the aftermath of chemo, severe neuropathy, 6 weeks of radiation every single day and intense physical therapy to regain use of her right hand. We only collected around half of her GoFundMe account on Facebook that I created for her www.gofundme.com/bnr85bdb. I was hoping we would collect even more! And we still can!!!  it is very difficult to work more than part time. Doctors say she shouldn’t be working at all…. But bills must be paid and one has to survive.  Please find it in your heart to donate what you can no matter the amount. You can donate privately and only if you wish Dawn to know I will tell her, I f you received this through email and wish to donate by mail please let me know and I will forward you the address.  Thank you for your generosity, love, prayers, kindness; and for your support to fight cancer, when you help one person, you help them all. She deeply thanks all that have already contributed to her through donations and prayers

 -Thank You Carrie Walsh

And as she plans to recover and be a survivor she plans to pay it forward

1.     She had two breast surgeries at Sloan Kettering to remove her tumor and lymph nodes (no mastectomies for this cancer, as if it comes back it targets another location.

2.     In February she developed a massive ulceration/infection in her lymph node that hospitalized her for a week with a 2 week follow up of in-home nursing care to clean the 4” open wound

3.     in March, while a nurse was injecting Adriamycin into the AC chemo tube she missed/and or burst the vein and injected the medicine under Dawn’s skin at her right wrist…chemically burning her internally.  Until this day, over 4 months she has limited mobility, impaired function and pain every day. Visits Physical therapy twice a week.

4.     Taxol Chemo -Dawn has suffered extreme fatigue, bone pain throughout and developed very severe neuropathy in her feet and fingers. Now being treated with some relief for pain.

5.     In June, she developed an infection in her breast called, Cellulitis back into the hospital in NYC…for intravenous antibiotics and rest.

6.     Left Sloan, they gave her an antibiotic that she had an allergic reaction to resulting in a rash and burn like condition all over her body……more mega meds to fix that….

7.     Suffering all this above with indescribable and tremendous fatigue, she appreciates all accolades, relief and contribution of any kind!
