Angels Story
Angel was born on June 5th, 2015 to Pastor Alberto Cañete and his wife Marlyn Cañete. Sadly Marlyn Cañete had to have a hysterectomy due to medical complications which meant Angel was delivered through cesarean delivery. The name angel was given due to Pastor Baragona’s belief that he was given a warning from the Lord that if she wasn’t delivered in a hospital, her mother would die. He also believed that Angel would be a messenger of the Lord someday and felt that the name Angel was right. Despite other suggestions, the two parents dedicated her with the name. In August 2016, she was admitted to hospital due to an abnormal growth on her nose. Under the care of EENT pediatricians, she was given prednisone, a steroid, and biopsies were taken. After the steroid treatment, the growth disappeared and the biopsy results came back negative. Angel was discharged with no concerns. However, in October of 2016, her mother noticed another small growth, purplish in color this time on her cheek. She was taken to dermatologists under the thoughts it was a skin allergy. The small growth continued to grow and she was taken back to the EENT department. The Doctors diagnosed her with a non-cancerous tumor called A hemangioma. A type of benign (non-cancerous) tumor that is usually found in infants- an abnormal cluster of small blood vessels which appears on or under the skin. To treat this, Angel was referred to a cardiologist to reduce the blood flow to the tumor and hope it would disappear on its own within 6-10 years. Shortly after Angels second birthday, the tumor has continued to grow and her parents were advised to travel to Cebu city for a second opinion. After tests done in Cebu,  it was found that there were abnormal growths all over Angel's body and she was diagnosed with stage 4 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. 2 types of cancers for a small 2 year old to deal with. After a very emotional conversation with the Doctors, it was decided that chemotherapy was the only treatment route for Angel, without it she would have two months to live. The thought of the costs started to add up in Pastor Alberto Cañete's head. The family would have to travel from Illigan city to Cebu city, find housing and pay for simple living costs, every time she needed a chemotherapy session once every month. The intensive chemotherapy started on the 23rd of February, 2018 for 6 months. After high dose chemotherapy, Angel's face became normal again and she became more like herself once more and was up and about playing. Now she requires radiotherapy treatment for the next 25 days Php72,500 which is roughly €1200. The chemotherapy treatment is needed for a further 23 months, this is going to cost the family a lot in living expenses, medical expenses, and housing expenses. We calculated roughly around Php700,000 or roughly €12,000 for the next two years.  Can you help to raise funds for her treatment?
“I have faith with dedication. Her name is Angel which means messenger. It was not a personal name but a dedicated name with a commitment that someday she will be a missionary. I believe that God is always on time and never late” - Pastor Alberto Cañete
