Me llamo Nicole Bowen, tengo 24 años y vivo en Guayaquil-Ecuador.
Amo la vida que tengo y quiero seguir disfrutándola junto a las personas que más amo... ayúdame a lograrlo.
Hace 8 meses ingresé al hospital con fuertes dolores en el abdomen y me dijeron que tenían que operarme de inmediato, luego de extirparlo realizaron la biopsia y me diagnosticaron cáncer de cólon (generalmente este tipo de cáncer aparece en una mediana edad, a partir de los 45-50 años) los doctores no entendían el por qué de mi enfermedad (por mi edad y en los 2 lados de mi familia no hay antecedentes) mi Doctor me recomendó hacer quimioterapia (no contábamos con el dinero debido al gasto de mi cirugía y lo hicimos a través del seguro social, en un hospital público).
En el mes de Abril (asistiendo a mi 7ma sesión de quimioterapia) me realicé una tomografía de rutina para verificar el progreso de la quimioterapia pero encontraron otro tumor maligno, ésta vez crecía desde mi estómago, tuve que operarme de nuevo, fue una noticia muy abrumadora para todos (la quimioterapia administrada no resultó, no fue la indicada para mí y lo supimos recién en ese momento).
Mi hermosa familia ha buscado ayuda de manera particular, consultando con muchos Oncólogos, pidiéndoles sus opiniones por mi caso; muchos de ellos coinciden en que mi tipo de cáncer es único y que acá no hay los recursos ni la tecnología adecuada para determinar qué es y qué lo provoca, ya que tengo un gen no mutante, el cual provoca que me crezcan/nazcan tumores de la nada; al final encontramos a una Doctora que aceptó mi caso (a pesar de lo complejo), estando a punto de retomar las quimioterapias en SOLCA (Sociedad de Lucha contra el Cáncer), mediante convenios me realicé otra tomografía y encontraron un nódulo o tumor (no lo logran identificar) creciendo en la base de mi pulmón izquierdo, al parecer hay riesgo de metastasis.
Mi Doctora nos sugirió enviar a estudiar mis muestras a los Estados Unidos en el Hospital M. D. Anderson (Houston, TX) con la posibilidad de tratarme allá, pero mi familia no cuenta con el dinero suficiente para hacerlo.
Quiero buscar la cura, saber qué ocasiona mi enfermedad y realizar el tratamiento adecuado, tengo muchas cosas y personas a mi alrededor por las cuales vivir, no quiero que mi historia acabe pronto.

8 months ago I went to the hospital with severe abdominal pains and I was told that I had to have surgery immediately, after I had it removed they performed the biopsy and I was diagnosed with colon cancer (usually this type of cancer appears in a middle age, from 45-50 years old) the Doctors did not understand why my illness (because of my age and on the 2 sides of my family there is no history) my Doctor recommended me to do chemotherapy (we did not have money due to the expense of my surgery and we did it through my insurance in a public hospital) In the month of April (going to my 7th session) I had a routine CT scan to check the progress of the chemotherapy but they found another malignant tumor, this time it was growing from my stomach, I had to have surgery again, it was news very overwhelming for everyone (administered chemotherapy didn't work out, it wasn't right for me and I only knew it at that time).
My beautiful family was asking for help, consulting with many oncologists and asking them for their opinions for my case, many of them agree that my type of cancer is unique and that here there are no the resources or the right technology to determine what is and what pr ovoca, since I have a non-mutant gene that is the one that provokes me grow tumors out of nowhere; in the end we found a Doctor who accepted my case (despite the complex), being about to resume chemotherapy in Solca, through covenants I performed another CT scan and they found a nodule or tumor (not identified) growing at the base of my left lung , apparently there is a risk of metastasis, my Doctor suggested that we send my samples to the United States at M. D. Anderson Hospital (Houston, TX) with the possibility of treating me there, but my family does not have enough money to do so.
I want to find a cure, know what causes my illness and perform the right treatment, I have many things and people around me to live by, I don't want my story to end soon.
