Help Me Get Home
Welcome to my dream.
I own a food truck but the van to pull it had to go to the junk yard.
The food truck will give me a longer season of employment than the business I am running now and the magical benefit of living at home for the first time in almost 20 years.
I really want to go home.
Home is an important thing to me, perhaps because I lost my family at 15. Without airing their business to the world suffice to say, I had no one to turn to, no one to call for the next 20 years. I learned to trouble shoot, rely on myself for answers, stay honest with myself and the world, I learned that I can do anything.
I worked at fast food places making the food, as well as packaging/selling it, as a receptionist, in factories, digging ditches, managing apartments and a myriad of other jobs during this time. I had to lie about my age in the beginning because no one would hire me. I don't like to lie but it was that or no food to eat. I've even had to panhandle on street corners.
For the last 12 years I've had a sunglasses store at the beach here in Maine giving me extensive customer service & experience running my own shop.
Before that I had a business with some rather sizable contracts painting interiors of apartments.
I don't mind selling sunglasses by the seashore. In fact, I kind of love it but it's time to move on and let someone a little younger get their beginning.
My successful campaign on GoFundMe will help more than me, it will give another person or couple a chance at their own business selling sunglasses by the seashore!
I've worked in several restaurants and also food concession stands here in Maine and loved doing it. I've used the flattop grill, deep fryers, registers.. all the equipment I'll be putting in my truck, I have experience with!
I can SO do this!!
Not fooling myself about food being 'easy'.
It is hot and physically demanding work but there is more room for creativity than selling sunglasses offers me and I LOVE to cook!
My sunglasses shop has gone through many changes in order to provide a higher quality of service and the largest selection in the state.
I want to be the best I can be at everything that I do. There is always room for improvement.
The community is receptive as well as supportive everywhere I've turned.
Several businesses along the major route have told me that they are happy to let me set up for a very reasonable rate.
THIS is the Food Truck that I bought:
(^^Future home of The Blue Spruce Grill ^^)
I don't expect you to provide my fantasy of $35,000 for a truck all set to go twice the size of mine (*miracles DO happen, so I threw that number out there. A girl can dream!).
I am asking for the bare minimum I need to get my feet under me.
I am in need of a good used towing vehicle. I'm not sure what I'll find when the time comes. I'm thinking $5-6k.
This will be a great working environment when we get the air conditioner (already donated!) installed. I've purchased some of the freezers and refrigerators too. Water system is up to code!
I need a grill, fryer(s), ventilation hood and a convection oven. About $5k [assuming I'll need to hire someone with more knowlege from time to time for assistance].
I'm not asking for the world on a stick, just a shot at creating a dream.
PLEASE donate today!
Please share this with others!
If you are planning a Christmas miracle for me, please can you do it for Hanukkah?
I need to know I have enough put aside before signing my lease for the Pier next year before the New Year. Thank you for your donations and your sharing my campaign.
