Blixa is a seven-year-old former feral, adopted by us (Annie and Timo) in March of 2017 from Best Friends Animal Society in Salt Lake City. He has rapidly become the absolute light of our home and one of the greatest joys of our lives.
In mid-January, we noticed that his behavior had changed. He wasn't as animated as usual, was barely eating (a far cry from his usual adorably gluttonous ways), and wasn't reacting well to being pet — most unusual. We took him to the vet on January 22, and were told a mass had been found in his chest, pressing on his stomach and intestines, making it difficult for him to eat. Today, January 25, we received confirmation that the mass was in fact cancerous. The tumor must be removed immediately, in case it metastasizes or Blixa starves. He is in immense pain every day due to the large tumor.
Timo and I are not exactly wealthy people, we spend each day trying our best to look after one another and our beloved pets. Fathoming a life without our sweet Blixa is just not an option. We need help paying for his medical bills. We have attempted to sell unnecessary possessions and would not be asking for help were it not completely necessary.
We are planning to get the tumor removed, which we're anticipating will cost an upwards of $2,000, and have already struggled to pay for x-rays, an ultrasound, and general medical care.
