Patrick
My name is Patrick, I am originally from Antigonish, NS now living in North Vancouver, BC. I'm 42 years old, married with an amazing, wild and funny little girl and I have Choroideremia.
Choroideremia is a hereditary eye disease for men that causes retinal deterioration. There is no cure and results enevitably in blindness.
I had been working in hospitality since 1999 and loved it, but in the past 5 years the deterioration in my eyesight was getting to severe. I had to leave hospitality and found a desk-job with a software company. Although I loved that job, I was laid off and left at a loss for a way to support my family.
After doing research on jobs for the blind and while I can still read, I have enrolled in school at VCMT to become a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT).
As tuition, books and supplies are very high ($30,000 Canadian), coupled with no income now and no income while I attend school, I am looking into financial assistance in any way I can. At the suggestion of my family I started this gofundme.
Any amount, even $1 is graciously appriciated.
Thank you for your time and consideration and for sharing my story!
