Let's Be a Blessing to Kathreen

On the morning of 24 February 2015, Kathreen Truka received a text message informing her that her mother, age 52, had passed away from a sudden heart attack. What was supposed to be an exciting first day back at school beginning her third year as a C3 College songwriting student instantly turned into one of immeasurable heartbreak. Exacerbating the tragedy is the distance Kathreen is currently separated from her family. While she is currently studying here in Sydney, her family is located in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Losing a parent, especially so unexpectedly and at such a young age, is always a devastating thing to experience. For it to happen while you are half way around the world, unable to have spent any of her remaining time left on this earth in her company, is simply unfair.
Thankfully, Kathreen's grandfather has been able to purchase her a plane ticket home from Australia so she can be with her family during this tragedy. Unfortunately, even though we sometimes truly deserve it, life does not stop around us to give us time and space to grieve. While Kathreen is in America she will be unable to work, but none of her ongoing expenses will just cease to exist.
Let's be a blessing to Kathreen. Let us stand in solidarity with her and support her financially in her greatest time of need. Together we can be part of the solution to her current struggles in life. No amount of money will ever change what has happened or make it any better, but together we can ensure that money and finances will not be an additional source of stress and anxiety on her life.
All money raised will go directly to Kathreen to bless her and show her our love and support. The $3000 goal is not required to be met by this fundraising campaign and all donations received will still be forwared to Kathreen regardless of the amount. Wouldn't it be amazing though if we raised enough to cover her $5500 tuition for the year?
About Kathreen:
Kathreen is currently enrolled at C3 College in Oxford Falls, New South Wales as a third year songwriting student. She will be attaining her Advanced Diploma at the end of the school year. Hailing from Nebraska, she spent several years in Germany before moving to Sydney to begin her studies.
Kathreen is one of the most kind-hearted, gentle, gifted, creative, and all around lovely persons you could ever have the fortune of knowing. Her sunny disposition and sweet sprit make her a blessing to all those around her. She does not accept the status quo and believes it is our duty to stand up to and change the injustices in this world.
Let's honour who she is and what she stands for by providing for her in these most unfortunate times.
Luke 10:33-35 - "33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’"
