We're reaching out to you as mutual friends of Adam and Leslie Buchanan.
There is need, and a wonderful opportunity to bless this wonderful couple and their family.
As you may or may not know Adam has had heart disease for many years. Over the last 6 years his heart and a variety of symptoms have been growing worse. His heart function declined greatly over the past 2 months and on Nov 8th he had surgery to install an LVAD (left ventricle assistive device) artificial heart to help his heart as he awaits a heart transplant. The wait for the transplant could be as long a 1 – 2 years.
After his discharge from the hospital he needs 24/7 attendance for around 90 days as he begins the road to recovery.
As you can imagine, there are numerous unknowns as they look to the future, but what is known is there is a great need for financial support, now and over time to help them through this journey.
There are mounting medical bills and the day-to-day expenses of running a household. Leslie plans to continue to work in the administrative office at a local middle school. Adam's recovery will take months, and, his physical ability to continue as a photographer after that is unknown. It may mean re-training in another line of work. Another unknown.
All of this means a limited one-income household for quite some time.
Adam & Leslie have given so much of their time, love, and support to so many people over the years so let's together think BIG for this couple (and their awesome kids, Lauren and Austin) and bless them!
Our prayer & hope is that enough funds can be raised to not only cover medical expenses, but can also augment Leslie's monthly income for a period of 2-3 years so they'll have some financial breathing room to "hit re-set" and figure out additional income for the longer term (a financial planner from the church they attend has graciously offered to help guide and manage the funds).
Together with you this is our chance to help someone close to all of us and for them to know that their family and friends will be supporting them through this long journey. Please join us now in making this come true for Adam and Leslie!
