Recording of Black Madonna music

Join me Alessandra Belloni, as I open a portal into the sacred sites of the mysterious Black Madonna in Italy and around the world with my new Music CD THE VOYAGE OF THE BLACK MADONNA featuring : healing chants, ritual drumming & trance dance ceremonies in honor of the Black Madonna from Southern Italy, France, Spain, Brazil .    The recording follows my new book to be published by Inner traditions in March 2019 healing Journeys with the Black Madonna, with foreword by best selling author Matthew Fox . 




Who is the Black Madonna?

The Black Madonna  is the female embodiment of God. Her power hails from the fact that She impacts all of humanity, in a very global and inclusive way. She embraces everyone, and everyone has access to Her divine spirit and power. She is the Black Madonna also because she represents the archetype of the African Mother.”

This new CD will be a complement to the book, and will be also a documentary film,  a   musical-spiritual guide highlighting one woman’s mystical journey of empowerment and transformation and revealing the mysterious Black Madonna as a Christian tradition with origins in pre-Christian devotion to the Earth Goddess and the African Mother. It comprises 11 chapters and each one ends with the description of the ritual prayers, lyrics and notations of the chants.

The book is based on my 35 years of academic research and fieldwork, which led me to write the opera The Voyage of the Black Madonna in 1991 and brought me to be Artist in Residence at the Cathedral of St John the Divine in New York City.

 It tells my story of personal healing and the visions which led me to travel as a musician throughout Southern Italy and the world, learning the music, dance, traditions, and ceremonies honoring the Black Madonna and teaching them to many people around the world. 
 

We plan a CD and Book release launch at the Cathedral of St John the Divine in early March 2019. A CD preview during the holidays 2018.

The CD is an enchanting journey of discovery of the seven Black Madonnas, following the ancient Neapolitan legend, known as the "Seven Sisters" in Southern Italy. This trip into traditional legends, miracles and history, transports audiences to a time and place where an unbroken and ancient tradition continues today with processions, drumming rituals, chanting and sensual dancing in honor of the Black Madonna.

The traditional music includes the ancient chant to the Madonna of Monteverrgine (Avellino) from the region of Campania the Black Madonna known as Mamma Schiavona, the Serving Mother, who is considered the most important of the seven sisters. She continues to be venerated on a high sacred mountain, which pilgrims still climb barefoot while chanting and drumming in her honor.   The drumming is known as  TAMMORRIATA,  a sensual dance which dates back to the rites of the Mother Earth  Goddess Cybele, now worshiped as the Black Madonna

I am blessed to feature world renowned musicians as Steve Gorn, master of bansuri flutes,also playing the saxophone and clarinet, the one and only violinist Joe Deninzon,  whose style varies from jazz, classical, rock, folk also known for his mastery for the electric violin.  Wilson Montuori will be playing his beautiful acoustic and classical guitars, with special effects, I will also  be joined by the wonderful Neapolitan singer Giuseppe de Falco and other guest artists.

With this powerful recording we will shed a new light on the ancient tradition of the Black Madonna for people from all walks of life, especially women, making Her as accessible through  chanting and  drumming. This tradition also dates back to the pre-Christian devotion to the Goddesses Cybele, Artemis, Isis, Aphrodites.

The repertoire includes music from different regions of Southern Italy.

WHY IS THIS RECORDING IMPORTANT:

My intention is to bring to life the authentic rituals in the South of Italy  and show how the Black Madonna is still alive today.  The music will make the audience travel to remote areas where she has been worshipped for thousands of years with ritual drumming, haunting chants and sensual trance dances with deep African roots. As a healer and musician, I have dedicated my life to bringing the power of this spiritual rhythm to women around the world.

The Black Madonna represents the Earth Mother as a living being. Like the earth’s womb, women’s wombs have often been broken. I strongly believe that in this time of turmoil and paradigm shifts, there is a great need for a compelling CD and Book with a strong message about the Black Madonna. We live in a dangerous time where both women and men need to connect the true knowledge and healing aspect of the Divine Feminine. 
 

What contributors will help us achieve.

We have already released 6 CDs and 2 albums but this is  a special recording, never been done before about the Sacred Chants and healing rituals in Honor of the Black MAdonna , the Earth & African Mother , to bring healing and peace to the world in this time of turmoil. 

This  new CD will complement the book, which will be distributed world wide.  The record’s world has changed immensely, and it is very difficult to find a label that will produce the entire recording.

We are looking for a few sponsors and donations to make this recording. The cost of the studio is very low. Only $ 250 per day, but our company does not have the necessary funds to complete the recording. We hope that you will consider supporting this beautiful new CD.

 We have set the dates July 2,3, 9 and 10 plus 2 more days at  Tom Tedesco Studio in Paramus New Jersey, The cost of the studio for 6 days is a total of $ 1,500 , the cost of the artists a total of $ 1,500 .

We need to raise $ 3,000 by end of August for this recording sessions.  We are hoping that our friends and supporters will make it possible.

All contributions will be made to our group I GIULLARI DI PIAZZA, featured in the CD and are tax deductible . With your permission, your name will appear on the cover credits in the CD jacket.

ABOUT ME :
I’ve studied these powerful techniques and traditions  for over  35 years doing fieldwork in Southern Italy where I learned these sacred musical traditions directly from master teachers. I founded and serve as the Artistic Director and Lead Performer of I Giullari di Piazza, an Italian music, theatre, and dance ensemble, Artist in Residence at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. I design my signature line of Italian tambourines with Remo Inc., the world's largest percussion manufacturer. I published a book on the healing power of the tarantella rhythms and tambourine technique titled Rhythm is the Cure with Mel Bay Publications. 

I have been awarded a master folk artist grant from New York State Council in the Arts two times, nominated one of the three best female percussionists in the world by DRUM! Magazine, and won several other awards. Additionally, I teach and tour around the world in renowned venues and festivals. I am very proud and thankful for all my artistic achievements but now I feel the need to share my passion through new media. To make that transition I need greater financial stability, and to afford the production costs for recording and mixing.
For the last 26 years, I’ve shared these healing arts with hundreds of people through my workshops and annual group pilgrimages to the Black Madonna's sacred sites in Italy.
