$9,600 of $20,000 goal
#BlackLivesMatter is working for a world where Black lives are no longer systematically and intentionally targeted for demise. We affirm our contributions to this society, our humanity, and our resilience in the face of deadly oppression. We have put our sweat equity and love for Black people into creating a political project–taking the hashtag off of social media and into the streets. The call for Black lives to matter is a rallying cry for ALL Black lives striving for liberation.
#BlackLivesMatter-LosAngeles is one of the first two chapters (Oakland being the other) and one of the most active. Dozens of Black grassroots organizers, in collaboration with non-Black allies, regularly meet to strategize, plan, and build actions and advance policies that promise to usher in justice and freedom for Black people. We are a grassroots movement and not a 501c3 organization to allow for the maximum flexibility and creativity in visioning and building the world that we want to see.
We need your help, if you have any resources to spare. If you can skip a coffee or two out this week to donate $5, this or any amount will be seriously appreciated. If you can afford to chip in more, please do so.
Thank you for your love, trust, and generosity.
This is my 1st time seeing the list of folks who donated money to our bail fund. I am overwhelmed with thanks, gratitude, and emotions that I can't explain. I will admit, being active in this struggle for me, can be very taxing at times but knowing we have the support of so many awesome freedom fighters fuels me to continue to stand strong, resist, fight, and win. I wish I could give you all a hug! Thank you very much and on behalf of the #BLM7, we appreciate you all! I love every one of you.
