First of all, THANK YOU for taking the time to check out my GoFundMe page! This project means a lot to me, I was immediately - without hesitation - drawn to it. So I have a pretty healthy gut feeling that my friends and family are going to love it as well!

A few months ago, news of the death of the last male Northern White Rhinoceros, Sudan, circulated worldwide. Sudan died at an elderly age of 45 at the Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya; and he is survived by his daughter and grandaughter, the last two Northern White Rhinos in existence.
Sudan’s species’ vulnerability is a direct result of poaching. Big game hunting to the point of species extinction continues to be the greatest threat to African wildlife.

This was my initial inspiration for my decision to stop WANTING to help make a change, and start actually making it.

The Black Rhinoceros (link attached) is critically endangered. Relentless poaching in the 1970’s & 80’s wiped out nearly 96% of the entire subspecies population in Africa. With much effort on our part to prevent poaching and encourage wildlife conservation, the population has slowly increased since ‘96. BUT ✋POACHERS CONTINUE THEIR EFFORTS. Thus, despite our progresses, we have to continue ours full-force.

African Bush Elephants (link attached) are a vulnerable species. This means they are subject to extinction at a fast rate!
Illegal poachers kill roughly 75 elephants EVERY DAY.
These beautiful giants are emotionally driven creatures - they experience grief in loss, happiness in birth, and a love for their herd members much like our love for our families and friends.

During my five weeks at the reserve in Zimbabwe I will be actively seeking and executing techniques to detract poaching in the form of preventative and corrective action. Corrective actions will include performing anti-poaching and snare patrols throughout the game reserve. In order to prevent the problem,  during my stay I will be spending time at schools near the game park educating the local people about the dangers of poaching and importance of conservation. I’ll also be assisting with teaching basic education to the children of Zimbabwe who, unfortunately, just don’t receive the quality education that you and I have been given.

While I personally believe that poacher prevention is one of the most important aspects of my volunteer project, I have many more beneficial projects that I will be working on! These include:

- Monitoring baby rhinos
- Monitoring diets/health of the resident elephants and rhinos
- Observational research on elephant and rhino behaviors as herds and individuals
- Observational research on family interactions and emotional bonds within elephant heards
- Help in local primary and secondary schools with conservation clubs, sports, gardening, and literacy

The African Bush is an ECOSYSTEM, where all of its members (plant, animal, water, earth, and air) work together in harmony. When species start disappearing from the ecosystem, so does it’s balance. Eventually, the whole system will be in jeaopardy. . . .

I think it’s so important for every person to be proud of themselves , and to feel like they made a positive change to a person, a place, an experience, the world, or an elephant!  Small or big, any steps in the right direction move you closer toward a better future for yourself and the world in which you live!

ALL DONATIONS WILL GO DIRECTLY TOWARD MY PROJECT FEES AND FLIGHTS! I won’t be spending any fundraising money on my personal experiences in Africa!

I will be flying into Harare National Airport (Zimbabwe’s Capital) on the 10th of June, 2019 and driving to the game park location in Imire, Zimbabwe. The images below highlight just some of the daily activities of the volunteers! SAFETY is taken very seriously by African Impact, and I’ll be returning, just fine, to all of you at the beginning of August!

If you have the means, help me to make my change in the world and conserve big game species/reserves in central Africa!
Every penny donated will go straight to my ♥️ I encourage you to claim your donations and forgo anonymity.. I want to be able to thank everyone personally who feels this cause is as important as I do‼️

African Impact and I thank you all for your generosity ! If you would like any more information on the program and it’s current projects, I’d be happy to provide you with everything you’d like to know! If you find yourself interested in volunteering as well (1st off GO YOU!) I’d be MORE THAN happy to share with you my application process and details of my experience preparing for and being in the African Bush!

Adventure awaits  ✈️
