Our youth in Chicago deserve to see and experience the opportunities afforded in more well to do rural areas. I have worked diligently with youth in violence prevention for over 20 years and recently had an opprtunity to renenovate a family property in the Bronzeville Area of our city to help youth further develop skills in landscaping by introducing a new concept landscape design and architecture but the building that was being donated for use was demolished by the city.

I am encouraging the youth to continue in the program but children need a great deal of inspiration in these turbulent and violent days that we've been experiencing in order to stay focused on their goals and aspirations.

Thankfully, a few of the youth were inspired by a field trip to the Acquaponics Program Facility College campus  in Chicago and one boy recalled "the indoor garden" and asked if we could build a new building in place of the old one to do an Acquaponics Program like it. I explained that erecting a building is costly but we could start off with a a regular garden on the now vacant lot where the old garden used to be and "revive the land" where the late owner of the property Mr. Robert Boose had previously planted and harvested strawberries, greens, onions and more in a small space in the back yard. I recently called the Acquaponics Facility director and asked if we could get some guidance on developing a small Acquaponics Lab where we could further educate our inner city youth in the Science Technology Engineering Arts And Math fields through the efforts of myself these eager to learn youth and we were welcomed to continue to visit the facility but need financing and materials in order to make their dreams come true.

I also truly enjoyed learning a great deal about a different way to harvest foods in Acquaponics and as a  youth advocate and parent educator in public schools I hope to be able to one day create a vehicle for family learning through this project with your support.  Phase one of the project will entail a community garden and as we get more support we will be able to fund the Acquaponics Lab Garden on the grounds of the future Bronzeville Boys Leadership Academic Center. The Bronzeville BLAC  Center & Garden young visionaries truly need your help to make it possible!!
