Project Wellness For America!
Is a Bold Initiative to provide onsite preventative health screening or Biometrics and health educational services to large groups of, uninsured, indigent, rural and under-served communities throughout the United States.
We have launched Project Wellness For America in our home state of Georgia, which has a ballooning health crises.
The Obesity Crisis
Obesity increases the risk of many diseases and health conditions, including hypertension, Type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke, osteoarthritis, dyslipidemia and some cancers.
Our Young People
The percentage of Georgia’s highschool students who are obese increased from 11% in 2003 to 15% in 2011
Adults
Despite fluctuating over the past decade, the percentage of Georgia’s adults who are obese increased 11.3%, from
18.3% in 2003 to 29.6% in 2010.
The Diabetes Crisis
Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness, lower limb amputation and kidney failure in Georgia. Diabetes is a disease with serious complications and can lead to premature death.
In 2010, 9.7% of Georgia adults were diabetic compared to 8.7% nationwide. We are also seeing a nationally increased numbers of young people under the age of 20 being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes.
The Cardivascular Crisis
Nearly 21,000 Georgians died of cardiovascular disease in 2010, representing 30% of all deaths during that year.
Project Wellness For America
We believe that together we change this! Utilizing our network of community organizations and faith-based communities, we will provide Testing, Consultation, Follow-Up Health Education Services, and Referral Services in the key disease crises areas of Obesity, Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease.
All donations are tax-deductable. Your contributions will go to the purchase of testing equipment and supplies, staffing and operational cost.
