Elderly Bully Fire Victim
Donation protected
Marjasha (Mickie) Bateman is a victim of the Bully Fire in Ono, California. Her hand built cabin that she had lived in for more than 30 years off the grid was destroyed on 7-11-14. It was flattened to the ground and her two cats and chickens perished. She saw the wall of flames coming toward the house and vacated taking only her dog in her nightdress. She is 70 years old, has breast cancer and had just finished her last day of radiation ten days before the fire and is disabled due to her cancer treatment. She is currently living short-term in a group home. The rent is $650 and she only makes $850 a month on disability. Her dog died of heat exhaustion waiting on a motel room. Her daughter and son-in-law are doing their best to help, but she needs help from the community to get back on her feet and get her new life started. Our goal amount is to try to get her a mobile home. She is doing her best to keep a positive attitude. Any help will be graciously appreciated.
