Hey everyone. Thanks for taking the time to read this :) My nephew, Hudson (16 months), had boiling water spilled on him on Sunday night. It was from his face, all the way down his right arm, and his chest/belly.
He was taken by ambulance to Upstate Medical's burn unit for treatment and my sis, Alayna, is still waiting to see how long he will need to be there. He has mostly 2nd degree burns, but they were concerned a few spots may be worse and need some grafting. They couldn't change the bandages yet, because he ended up with a respiratory infection, so they didn't want to risk infecting the wounds. They believe they now have that under control, so will be assessing the burns today.
When he comes home, it will be a pretty long recovery. He will be at high risk of infection, so won't be able to go to daycare for a while, and Alayna will not be able to work for most likely a month, if not more. Anthony (Hudson's dad) got burned as well and is receiving treatment, so he will also be out of work for a short period. Any little bit will help to get them through the next couple of months, and their time at the hospital.
More than anything, we are asking for you to keep praying for sweet Hudson! We are feeling your prayers! He has been such a brave little boy and was in much better spirits today when I talked to my sister.
I also set up some meal deliveries for them for when they return home. I have started them for Dec 11, and will update if they will need any more time than that. If you'd like to take them a meal, please follow the link and contact me for the password so that you can sign up.
