Birthday Fundraiser for Bangladesh
This year, for my birthday, I am collecting donations for 3 of my favorite Bangladeshi organizations who are all supporting the Rohingya refugee crisis.
And just so I can get your attention for this super important cause, I'm wearing a saree everyday and posting a photo, flooding your social feed and blabbing about the world's greatest humanitarian crisis everytime you ask me about my saree at work.
If you don't want me to do either of the above, contribute to this GoFundMe campaign to support the incredible work done by three organizations:
1. Footsteps: A local youth group who have done impressive work on installing latrines at one of the refugee camps in Teknaf.
2. Jaachai: A media platform that tackles fake news by investigating the origin of the story. I love what they have done with photos emerging from the refugee camps by ensuring it shows true insights into the condition of the persecuted population.
3. BRAC : The world's largest NGO has been active at almost all the camps. I am particularly impressive by their work with children, many of whom have been orphaned by the recent violence in Myanmar.
Every bit counts. To know why I'm a strong advocate of supporting organizations on the ground, here's something I wrote on the Rohingya refugee crisis and what YOU can do to make a difference.
This holiday -- but more importantly, my birthday -- your giving can change lives. Make it matter.
