BirdBabyNest Game, Workshops & Art

Donation protected
Elliott State Forest has a special place in my heart. A solo hike through the region in 2013, healed my broken spirit and gave my art new life. I want to share the joy of feeling at peace in the forest and help others to enjoy the fauna and flora that make Elliott their home.

Inspired by my love for needle-felting and textiles, I hatched an idea for an illustrated family-oriented memory board game that teaches bird identification. The entire game will be illustrated with fabric and felt sculptures, a unique medium for game art! 15 regional artists have contributed their talents to creating these textile bird sculptures, forest and nests!

In creating this board game, my goal is to connect art and crafting communities with children's education and wildlife protection groups like Audubon Society and Oregon Wild. We are offering craft workshops, art exhibits and a board game (for purchase) about the birds native to Elliott State Forest. A significant portion of the proceeds from the board game will go toward conservations programs for Elliott State Forest. This will be a product about the region to benefit the region.

Project Bird Baby Nest has three parts that need your help funding to bring to life:

*   Art for the "Bird Baby Nest" board game
Funds will go toward paying contributing artists, photography, game development and design. (The production line manufacturing of the 1st Edition will be additionally funded by a later campaign.) This campaign is mainly for the development and art for the game.

*   Craft workshops in communities around the region
Funds will go toward material and tool costs for workshops, so that organizations like Audubon Society and Public Libraries can offer these classes with a huge reduction in expenses.

*   Art Exhibits of the bird art at galleries & museums
Funds will go toward promotion, transportation, shipping, set-up, installation, and load out costs associated with the exhibit. I hope to have at least three art shows!

Honored to be Exhibiting at:
The Nature Store, Audubon Society of Portland, Sept 1- Oct 31.
Coos Art Museum , Coos Bay, OR  Dec 15 - Feb 18.

Project Bird Baby Nest is a celebration of native birds. It inspires us to share our innate love of birds and animals, deepen our sense of community and help bridge divided views about public land use.

Only with your support can this heart felt project be brought to communities around the region. Thank you.

Visit my blog on https://www.patreon.com/posts for FREE instructions and videos on how to make your own wet-felted bird eggs or needle-felted Marbled Murrelet.  Supporters like you have made workshops where I teach  these crafts and share wildlife facts with kids and communities possible!

Above are Art Prints of my bird sketches, which are a reward for supporters at the $15 Level. These prints include names of each bird species.

Examples of the Color Art Prints for our $30 Level Supporters in the background, with a first prototype of six pairs of cards for the Bird Baby Nest Game.

Needle-Felting Kits are hand prepared for $50 Level Supporters with complete a handmade wire armature to begin felting on!

Example of original bird sketches matted for our $100 Level Supporters.

These are needlefelt Marbled Murrelet craft workshop art birds. We have partnered with Portland Audubon Interpretive Center to offer 4 workshops , and they are so popular, only few spots are left. These are also examples of the art birds that will be made in honor of each $25 Level Supporters and sent to the Governor's Office.

Our Exhibit at the Audubon Society of Portland Interpretive Center. Please contact me here or leave a comment on Facebook/BirdBabyNest if you'd like to host this exhibit in your home town!
