Bill Cornell's emergency expenses

My husband, Bill Cornell, was diagnosed  in August 2015 with Squamus cell carcinoma which is tongue cancer.  It was stage four and had spread to his tongue and vocal chords. Between then and now he has fought long and hard to beat this horrific disease.  He went through surgery, chemotherapy, and seven weeks of radiation.  The doctors told us he was in remission. Then in November  2016 he began bleeding out. They transferred him from our local hospital in Turlock to doctors Hospital in Modesto then to San Jose regional medical center and finally to where he'd had all his treatment  and doctors, Standford! His PET scan showed that it was back with a vengeance! It was now not only his throat and tongue area but also his brain, liver and urinary tract. It was so advanced that basically they sent him home and hospice was called in.

That's the medical part, let me tell you about my husband, we've been married for  33 years, and together 36. Until he retired a few years ago he had worked all his life as a truck driver,  first in the El Centro area and then in the Salinas area for Nunes Brothers,   Driving from the produce fields to the coolers. That's when I met him. I always told my mom that I'd never get married!  After one date with him, I called her up and told her, I found the man that I was going to spend the rest of my life with! When we moved to Turlock in 1989 we  missed our friends, made a good life here. After he retired he was the neighborhood handyman. I don't think there's a house on the block that he has it done  something for. With a smile on his face and a joy for life, he helped everyone who needed it. Every morning he would bring me a cup of coffee and a banana and set it on the nightstand for me . When our  roses were blooming he would bring me a rose too! I've had a rough time for the last several years as well. About a year before he was diagnosed with cancer I had  several strokes and one day, through our divine creator, great doctors and hardheaded determination, I went from being unable to read, do math or speak in full sentences  to where I am able to talk and read today, still not able to do math. However, I was forced to stop working and go on disability. That medical issue  wiped out our savings. I was in the hospital for quite some time and like I said had to stop working. But even with all of our issues in the last several years, we have been happy because we have our love for one another, great family, and friends that love us!

At this time we need help. Last month I had to borrow money just to buy him some Ensure, because he's no longer able to eat food. I have stacks of unpaid medical bills. The one hospital alone we owe $46,000, altogether we owe well over 100,000  but right now I just need help with day-to-day expenses.  I pray that I don't lose my house. I'll need help with final costs. The doctors have only given him a month or so on this earth, and then he'll go with God.

I just want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
