Bill Bloxham is a well-known member of the Winston-Salem Community and regular fixture at the public libraries.

Homeless for the last four years, Bill Bloxham played the trombone and attended UNCSA, receiving a Bachelor of Music degree in 1980. He worked in the music library at the school in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

On January 16, he was brutally attacked by three teenagers and is in ICU with serious injuries.

His neighbors in the West End of Winston-Salem have set up this fundraiser to help him with whatever he needs on the road to recovery.

According to Bill's family he is making progress and is a real fighter. After a brief setback with pneumonia, he is responding well to treatment. If progress continues, he is scheduled for surgery on his eye this Friday. His family are tremendously moved by the outpouring of support from the community andd thank everyone for the kindness.

The public response has been amazing! We will be working with Bill's advocate at The hospital to ensure he gets the maximum benefit from the fundraiser. We can't assume all homeless folks want an apartment, or otherwise think we know what is best for Bill. I will keep everyone posted.

I'm wondering how Bill is doing? Any update? I hope Bill is able to see this amazing support and love. I am a fellow graduate of NCSA. Bill was a senior my freshman year. I respect your talent and commitment to your art. I know how hard it was to get in to that school and to finish four years is a great accomplishment! You will always be a musician. You earned that title. And you will always have friends from NCSA.

But for the grace of God; I, or anyone else, could be homeless and vulnerable like this gentleman. I didn't know Mr. Bloxham but I too am very saddened.
