Join me in helping the youth of Bosnia & Herzegovina break down ethnic barriers through collaboration, technology and innovation. I have launched a foundation to help disadvantaged students & young professionals access high quality education and technology to advance their careers.
Who am I?
My name is Eddie Custovic (https://au.linkedin.com/in/ecustovic)
and I am a very passionate engineer, academic, entrepreneur, philanthropist, innovator and leader. I spend much of my time helping others and empowering students and young professionals to achieve their dreams.
I was born in Bosnia & Herzegovina and, as many people around the world, became a refugee as a result of the devastating war in the 1990's. I have built a successful career in Melbourne, Australia and now want to help others in need.
Background
Twenty years after the Dayton Peace Agreement and the end of the war, Bosnia and Herzegovina still faces economic, social, and political challenges. The youth of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) are aware of the range of problems they are facing. One of their major concerns is the indifferent attitude towards the needs of young people. At the same time, a significant number of them remain optimistic and have positive expectations regarding the progress of the country in the next few years.
In many developed countries, youth are treated as the most valuable resource in future economic development. The countries heavily invest in their development: with high quality education, continuous training for employment, creation of jobs, and connection to globally relevant leadership forums. Young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina deserve these similar opportunities. Unfortunately, a majority of them are leaving the country seeking opportunities elsewhere. This poses major challenges to the future development of the country and is a serious loss for the greater community.
Together with the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) Youth Employment Project I organised an important gathering in Sarajevo in December of 2016. The congress was a huge success where students and young professionals were empowered to tackle the challenges ahead, as they are the indispensable factor and driving force of the change that can and needs to happen. Through a variety of technical and non-technical workshops, industry lectures from global experts, and professional networking and social events, the attendees created new contacts, erased ethnic boundaries, and developed collaborative relationships with industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina and around the world.
Creativity, imagination, and technology have no boundaries. They do not discriminate against race, sex, or religion and have no political allegiance. IEEE strives to advance technology for the benefit of humanity and through its members, inspire a global community to innovate for a better tomorrow.
With this congress we were able to bring together many very successful Bosnians & Herzegovinians from around the world to take part in the congress. They had a very positive influence on the students in BiH. We are in the process of creating a powerful network of entrepreneurs to mentor students that have the potential to become innovators and entrepreneurs in BiH. IWe are also on the verge of launching several start-ups as a result of the congress. This is the only way to start creating new employment opportunities.
We demonstrated and will continue to demonstrate our commitment to empowering and inspiring the next generation of engineering and technology leaders who will play a pivotal role in helping Bosnia and Herzegovina flourish.

The foundation was created in 2015 but officially launched at the SYPCBiH2016 Congress in Sarajevo.
We believe no student should miss out on a quality education due to disadvantage. There are many students who need support to access the educational opportunities they deserve. Your donation will make a direct impact on the youth in Bosnia & Herzegovina. Your donations mean so much to those supported by the Bosnia & Herzegovina Futures Foundation that strives to enhance educational opportunities, technology access and improving employment of youth. The foundation also utilises a powerful network of intelectuals and successful business professionals to help in the mentoring and support of scholarship recipients and other students. Your donations will transform lives and our foundation will ensure that you are kept up to date on the students & projects we support. Together, we achieve so much more. Together we are recognising the needs of brilliant minds.
What will your money help do:
-Help support disadvantages students and young professionals from all part of BiH in the form of 12 month scholarships
- Provide awards to outstanding student innovators
- Help launch start-up companies and assist with employment of youth in BiH
-Help disadvantaged student access technologies to advance their careers
- Improve Bosnia & Herzegovina's economic status by uniting & empowering young people
