Books for a Benefit Charity Event

Donation protected
The second Books for a Benefit annual charity event will take place on November 5th of 2016 at 6:00 P.M. at the Bint Jebail Cultural Center in Dearborn.

Books for a Benefit was founded to foster an appreciation and understanding of the benefits of literacy. Our organization aims to support our community by providing access to books and other academic resources through fun and productive programming. We recognize education as a path to innovation and success, and we dream of a world where that path is open to all students, regardless of background. Our goal is to do our part to encourage students to explore reading in a way that not only promotes academic drive, but also self-expression and a lifelong appreciation for the beauty of literature.

Chapters at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor and Dearborn, Michigan State University, Wayne State University, and the University of Detroit Mercy are partnering to raise awareness for the literacy disparities in the Metro-Detroit area. We hope to raise funds in order to continue to provide students with the necessary literacy resources, such as books, bags, and backpacks, to succeed in school. The average backpack we purchase costs $1.10 and every dollar you contribute can help provide the resources students in our community need.
