Bethany's Heart

Donation protected
Bethany is a 16 year old girl who attends Boylan Catholic High School in Rockford, IL. She has been on their dance team for the past three years and absolutely loves it. She also has a beautiful voice and cantors at mass every Sunday and has sung in a number of local performances. She has many friends, loves to socialize, and goes crazy over Justin Bieber (please do not hold that against her haha).
To look at her, you would never know that she struggles every day. She has a heart condition known as Supraventricular Tachycardia or SVT. For most people it is mild and manageable. However, for Bethany it is paralyzing. She has endured a lifetime of heart monitors and ambulance trips to the emergency room to slow her heart down. When her heart beats too fast, she is in agonizing pain for long periods of time and is unable to function. She has had surgery for this as a younger child, which gave her relief from the debilitating affects. But the symptoms reoccurred as she grew and her heart matured.
As you can imagine, Bethany is an expensive girl. To manage her care, her mother had to leave her position as an LPN to ensure constant availability to her daughter. Her father works diligently to ensure financial stability but as you can imagine the cost of medical expenses can be beyond imagination and medical bankruptcy became necessary. Bethany now needs another surgery, which has been scheduled for mid-March of this year, and possibly more after this one. Her quality of life is limited by extreme dizziness, low blood pressure, and fatigue which make it difficult to participate in school and family events. Medication slows her heart down but has its own set of side effects. The longer the surgery is delayed, the less successful the realization of a normal life would be. Her doctors have stated that she would eventually go into permanent AFib and then need a pacemaker, which would need to be changed every 6 to 10 years. Her life expectancy would also be shortened. This is why we have turned to you. We need your help. All donations will be used strictly for the cost associated with the medical care of Bethany. If you cannot contribute monetarily at this time, please say a prayer and share Bethany’s story. Thank you so much.
