GREG'S ROAD TO RECOVERY

Donation protected
We have been exhausting all avenues possible to help Greg continue on his road to recovery. We have come across a treatment that we are hoping will help continue his forward progress. Hyperbaric oxygen treatment is used widely for various different conditions, and traumatic brain injuries is one. It is intended to remove toxins and enhance rejuvenation of brain cells. It will aid in speeding the healing of his brain and other functions throughout his body. It can also help to strengthen his legs and feet, which have been compromised by not being able to walk for 1.5 years. Many people who have suffered from brain injuries and strokes have utilized this therapy. In fact, Click here to witness a testimony from someone whom benefitted from the treatment.

We know Greg has more ability and capacity to improve. He has shown us that he is able to read and write. He has at times, begun speaking in sentences, although this is quite intermittent as he gets fatigued easily. He has the ability to reason and problem-solve, as well as still has a decent memory leftover from before his accident. Although he may not always be able to remember names and birthdays, he can easily recognize a face. Greg will be undergoing 40 of these treatments which are 5 days a week for about 60 minutes each. The therapy is completely non-invasive and just requires Greg to lay down in the padded chamber while oxygen is introduced into the chamber. Our hope is that this therapy will help him to regain and/or allow him the capacity to re-learn his previous knowledge and memories. We are optimistic that this therapy will speed up the time that we can get Greg back to Lafayette and back home with his family, eventually! Our next goal is to get him strengthened, both cognitively and physically, to the point where he can be eligible to get into the Rehab Hospital of Indiana. RHI is a major step in Greg re-learning how to mobilize, and hopefully walk.

The one down side of this hyperbaric oxygen therapy is it is expensive. We have footed many of the expense ourselves, since this treatment is not covered at all by insurance. So, although we are reluctant to do so, we are again asking for the community's support. Your donations will help Greg on the road to recovery. After only one treatment Dad was a talking machine! He even stopped and smiled for the camera (which he never does!). Luckily the facility in which the oxygen chamber is located is about a mile or two from where Greg stays currently, here in Carmel, so gas money isn't a huge issue.

Any amount can help and even if you can't donate, we greatly appreciate all the love and support our community has showed Greg and our family throughout his journey. Updates will be posted on Greg's progression as he begins his hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments!
