Ben Medical Funds

Hello world! My name is Ben Solmor. I own a School for the Performing Arts in Parkland Florida. We house a Competition Level Dance Company (NLDC), a Children's Theater (Next Level Performing Arts), and a Professional Theater Company (Marquee Theater) all under one roof. I'm the Owner, Co-Founder and Resident Choreographer and Costumer. I've worked in Theater and Dance  with those of all ages for the last 10-years and to look back at everything I've accomplished in the years I had in good health is remarkable. Some woud say a miracle. I was already told once before I would never walk let alone dance. But being the stubborn Capricorn I am, I didnt listen. I never planned to. That wasnt in my cards. I was born with a very rare bone disease known as Multiple Enchondromatosis. Only 1 in every 100,000 people contract this disease. I've had dozens of surgeries throughout my life in order to keep my disease in check. Biopsies, bone lengthening, reconstructive surgeries etc. I started my medical procedures in New York City and ended up in South Florida when my pediatric surgeon, Dr. Harold Dick, Chief of Pediatric Surgery at Columbia Presbyterian, got too old to operate. I found myself at Joe Dimaggio's Children's Hospital with surgeon Dr. McNerney and Oncologist Dr. Jofe. I had a multitude of surgeries back to back to ensure I could get every procedure necessary before I was dropped from my dads insurance. In the 10 years I've been in good health, I not only taught myself to walk again but to dance... I gained a passion for expressing myself through the movement of my body... something the doctors told me would never happen. Sadly, on October 25th of this year, I had a biopsy that revealed both grade 2 and 3 malignant cells within the same tumor...I was diagnosed with Stage Two Bone Cancer and am already in recovery from my first of many possible surgeries. My next procedure is scheduled for Wednesday January 3rd to aggressively remove the High Grade Chondrosarcoma from my right leg; which will entail at least 3 if not 4 prosthetics implants to replace the cancerous bones. Unfortunatley, I do not have health insurance to cover the expense of my medical procedures so here I am... asking you all... my friends and family...and friends of friends and family... to help me. Please. Any little bit counts. Make it possible for me to get back on my feet both physically and finanically. Help me to keep dancing, to keep teaching your children, to keeping the Arts alive in our world. From the bottom of my heart...I thank you you all.

I took it upon myself to make a little montage of some of my "commerical" Dance accomplishments through my years of good health... I dont know the next time I will be able to dance, but I'm very proud of what I accomplished with the time I had.
