My name is Ben Lewis. I am a singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Natchez, MS. I have been playing music for over 20 years now, and I'm excited to say that I am finally putting together an album that encompasses so much of who I am as an artist. I have been living and working in Arkansas for the last year, and I have taken a break from playing live shows to write. I write about happiness, about love, about heartbreak, about burning bridges. I write about life.
I have been travelling back to Natchez to record every so often since late August. This album will be 10 tracks of soulful music deeply rooted in the blues, with heavy influnces from Country and Rock 'n' Roll. I have funded the entire project up to this point including studio costs, session musician fees, travel expenses, online distribution costs, and website maintinence. I'm very pleased with the outcome so far, and I feel like these songs are my best work to date.
As an artist, I want to preserve my work for many years to come, and vinyl records seem to have the longevity that so many other forms of media lack.
There have been some amazing musicians that have played on these tracks, and I have enjoyed seeing them shine. As a "thank you" to all the musicians who shared their talents, I thought I would have a vinyl record pressed for each of them and include a personal thank you note. What I didn't realize is that it will cost almost $2200 to fill a minimum order of 200 records and have them shipped to me. Not to mention ordering CD's which will probably be close to another $1000, and might be a seperate campaign altogether. The rest of the records in the order would be good to have for merchandise to sell at shows. So here I am. I have never used this website before, but now seems like a great time to start.
I should be completely done with recording, mixing, and mastering by April 1st of this year. At that point I will be ready to place an order. So far I have released one single on CDbaby, Spotify, iTunes etc so far. It's called "As the Bridges Burn". I just submitted a second single for release next week called "This Town". Please have a listen and see what you think.
