Help Ben Beat Cancer
With aggressive treatment we have hope for a cure, but it will likely cost $20,000. While Ben is undergoing treatment he's not able to work. I'm only working part-time so that I can take care of Ben.
We are hoping to find a way to supplement the lack of income and to help with some of the costs not covered by insurance.
Thank you for your generosity!
After consulting with a brain oncology/radiation specialist at the UW Medical Center, we’ve decided on a treatment strategy. The first approach will be to use what is called a gamma knife, which delivers targeted radiation to the specific tumors. Ben will have this treatment on Tuesday, May 8th. In June, Ben will have a scan to see if the treatment was effective.
The oncologist has told us that there is no known cure, and it is highly likely that Ben will develop more tumors. If effective, the gamma knife can be used repeatedly, but at some point, it may no longer be an option. If the gamma knife is not effective we have a couple of options, including full brain radiation and/or surgery.
There are many unknowns at this point regarding what the future holds. There are potential complications with the gamma knife procedure that may necessitate more time off from work. If Ben has to undergo full brain radiation, he will likely be unable to work for quite some time.
Our financial cushion has been depleted during these past three years of treatment. We humbly ask for your help in getting us through the difficult time. We remain hopeful for the best outcome, and appreciate your prayers, love and support.
