Ben and Kathy's New Hearts

We're two delightful siblings who share the genes for weird noses, and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. It means we have big hearts, quite literally. Really, it's horrible, so we need transplants. We're fortunate that we're in the position where we don't need them imminently, but we'll be visiting the wonderful transplant team at Papworth Hospital quite often, which is really vital for our health, but unfortunately they're all the way near Cambridge. We both live and study in Wales (Ben - Aberystwyth, International Relations BA; Kathy - Cardiff, Early Celtic Studies MA) while our lovely mum lives in Worcester, so it's quite a trek. The reason we're not being closer is because our cardiologist is in London, and has a good relationship with Papworth, and we like them too so we don't wasn't to transfer elsewhere. It's really important to be with a team you trust and who know you medically and personally, especially as we've had the same cardiology since before we can remember. Transplant is scary and terrifying enough, so money is a whole new set of worries. We're currently trying to work out how we're going to handle all the traveling and so on, so this fund will help us pay expenses such as car and train journeys, and any accommodation we need to pay for (the hospital doesn't have any). We are truly grateful for anything you can give, and the goal is literally just a figure we had to provide. We'll keep you updated as to our health and how things are going, and Ben's due in Papworth in December, so we'll see if we can get some pictures of our lovely team there. It's also really difficult for me not to use cardiology related phrases. Our hearts go out to all of you (genuinely)
