Greetings! Our friend, Rachel Weber, is a social justice lawyer and single mom, well-known for her generous spirit and fierce commitment to community organizing. Rachel urgently needs our help, as she’s facing income loss to protect her health and life in the wake of cancer treatment.
After a 2014 diagnosis of breast cancer, Rachel had a double mastectomy, and 2 reconstructive surgeries. Rachel's recently found out that she must undergo a 4th surgery in January 2020 to remove her breast implants, which were recalled by the FDA for being linked to a rare form of lymphoma. Medical intervention cannot wait, as Rachel shows early signs of lymphoma.
Rachel runs her own law practice focused on criminal defense, immigration justice, civil rights, and social justice organizing. Being self-employed means that she doesn't have sick leave. A solo parent, she's responsible for all of the living expenses for herself and her son.
Rachel needs financial support now, as recovery will mean she'll be without her usual income for 2-3 months. Her doctors anticipate she'll need recovery services that won’t be covered by insurance, including a specialized form of post-mastectomy physical therapy and scar tissue remediation.
