On September 6, 2015, a tragic incident occurred, resulting in the loss of 23 year-old former USF defensive tackle, Elkino Watson Sr. (http://www.tampabay.com/news/publicsafety/crime/one-dead-after-stabbing-in-ybor-parking-lot/2244437
After facing the loss of a brother, father, son, and friend, the Founders of BelieveInMe decided to become encouraged by Elkino's passing. We wanted to create a legacy that honored his life and advocate for change in South Florida. Through violence prevention, education, health and wellness, and community service among underrepresented youth, this organization seeks to shift the atmosphere in ways that have never been done before. Joining forces with the community will show his children and other children that they will not have to face the world alone. The goal is to expand opportunities for children in the surrounding area, allowing them to see their own potential and believing in themselves, just as much as the Foundation believes in them.

BelieveInMe Foundation, Inc. will host our 4th Annual Football & Cheerleading Educational Community Awareness Event that aims to include STEM and STEAM components into the football & cheerleading structure, encompassing a curriculum for the youth. They will perform drills that allows them to calculate velocity, acceleration, distance ran, and more. Since this will be a family-friendly event, a FREE fitness component for parents and guardians will be available and highly encouraged. College admission representatives and technical school affiliates will also be present to table throughout the duration of this event. By doing so as a free event to all, we can engage with the community and overlooked youth by bringing opportunities directly to their backyard. It will allow them to experience different avenues they have never experienced before, while showing all participants that there is no dichotomy between athleticism and intellect.

Contributing to this cause will continue to promote the needed support of our South Florida community. Environmental factors such as neighborhood, stability of housing conditions, educational attainment, and adversity in school all lead to detrimental results of their future. As a community, we are presented with two choices: repeat or evolve. So head over to our BIG event happening on July 2nd!
