Historic Preservation, Bedford, NH

It is the “Church on the Hill” by which people recognize they are in historic Bedford, New Hampshire. Established even before the Town of Bedford was officially formed, Bedford Presbyterian Church is deeply intertwined with the town’s history, serving as the first meetinghouse in 1755.

Today, the building that defines Bedford is in need of major repairs to the church’s front stairs and columns. Preserving the church building, dating back to 1832, is the goal of this Go Fund Me campaign. Replacing the crumbling steps, columns and front portico is estimated to cost $150,000.

Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Bedford Presbyterian Church has ministered in the community for more than 260 years. Today, it offers meeting rooms for the local Boy Scout Troop, many support groups, Pastoral Counseling Services, and community Christian Education programs. It is the home of the Caring Closet, where recently released prisoners from the Women’s Prison can find clothing. Additionally, our Helping Hands program helps local families with hands-on home repairs and support.

Preserving this historic building will ensure that the story of Bedford, New Hampshire remains alive for generations to come.
