Hello, My name is Becky . July 31, 2018 I was diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma which is a rare cancer (1 in a million for women 2 in a million for men are diagnosed with this) Sadly this is more common in children and young adults than in someone of my age . I am a 52 yr old single mother of 2 . I have a 24 yr beautiful daughter . I also have a 17 yr old handsome son who lives with me . It breaks my heart to say that he has come into an addiction with drugs which so many people face now . I would have never thought my son would have this problem but apparently it is everywhere anymore .
I have always worked and have never had to rely on the government or anyone else to support myself , including my ex-husband.
I am now facing some very difficult financial problems . I have had 2 surgery’s since July . My Radiation Oncologist would like for me to start radiation treatments in October . These are to last approximately 8 weeks & then chemotherapy after that for approximately 16 weeks .
Due to the type of job I have I am not able to work while receiving treatments . Unless I am able to come up with financial assistance, I will have to forego these treatments. It is a very difficult decision to make. The oncologist has advised against this, as this type cancer is very aggressive and reoccurring. Most likely, they will have to amputate my leg. I have signed up for temporary disability and other financial assistance but have not heard anything back as of yet.
I have seen several gofundme campaigns which receive many contributions.
I have always been a person to help even with gofundme campaigns and donations for various reasons.
I absolutely hate to have to ask for people to donate for my cause. My cousin had created an account for me but sadly we had very little response.
I am a good person and I can provide proof of my diagnosis. I am just at the point I do not know what else to do.
I would even appreciation suggestions of resources that I could contact . I have tried many but due to the fact that this type cancer is so rare for someone my age, qualifications for some programs require you to be between the ages of 18-40, excluding my eligibility.
Any help is greatly appreciated more than anyone could ever know.
