Beauty Within Sickle Cell

Today, a co-worker of mine lost his beloved daughter, Jazmine Alexis Rivera.

Although she is gone, Jazmine leaves behind an incredible legacy of using her own trials to help others. After earning her college degree, Jazmine not only became a relentless advocate for others who were also battling the rare disease of Sickle Cell Anemia, but she created her own YouTube Channel (“Beauty Within Sickle Cell”) to document her fight as a way to help others.

Unfortunately, after a recent blood transfusion, Jazmine contracted an infection and was ultimately sent to the Harvard University Women’s Hospital in Boston in order to pursue a specialized treatment. With her family by her side, Jazmine succumbed to the infection this afternoon.
