My name is Elli Aitken. I am 13 years old, currently in year 8 and I go to Portland Secondary College. This year on June 9th I am cutting my hair to be donated as a wig. I am raising money for brain cancer as it is the lowest funded cancer research. I also have family that has been affected by brain cancer and sadly it has claimed the lives of one of my aunties and uncles. I have another uncle who has been battling brain cancer for 7 years and has come very close to the disease taking his life.

What inspired me to do this was my family, friends and all the people that have to suffer with the trauma of going through this horrible disease. Last year I went to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. As I sat in the waiting room it was heart breaking to see children with cancer and the parents who have to put on a brave face. No one should have to suffer.

My goal is to reach over $1500.

On June 9 I am going to try to get everyone to wear a beanie to school to recognize the battlers and survivors of brain cancer. We are organizing a raffle to lead up to June 9 and it would be much appreciated if you have any goods to donate for the raffle. Lastly, it would be great if you could sponsor me.
