Beanie’s Fund for Senior Rescue Dogs with Cancer Treatment Expenses!

HELP US FUND CANCER TREATMENT
FOR SENIOR RESCUE DOGS!!

Our sweet little ten year old English cocker spaniel Beanie and his American cocker spaniel friend Frankie were deserted on a dusty road in Central California just last December, 2017.

When the local shelter could not locate their owners the two best friends were sent to Muttville Senior Dog Rescue in San Francisco to find a new home.  Muttville provided an amazing amount of care for these dogs and Beanie was able to have two skin lesions operated on and extensive dental work done.  Beanie had already suffered a broken jaw and a torn rear right ACL injury but those were old injuries.  Mostly he needed a loving home!

My husband and I had never had a dog before but we fell in love with Beanie the moment we saw him.  We adopted him in February 2018 and he became the third member of your little family.

In May 2018 he was diagnosed with canine lymphoma.   As well as seeing his primary vet Beanie was treated by the canine oncologist, the canine cardiologist and the canine dermatologist.  He had  appointment after appointment for treatments.   That happy little dog willingly did all that was asked of him without a single complaint!

In August the dog he was abandoned with, after two unsuccessful attempts at adoption, became available for adoption through Muttville again.  We knew we just had to bring him home to help Beanie get through all his medical problems.

The two dogs were absolutely ecstatic to see each other again and we adopted Beanie’s best friend Frankie so that Beanie would have the support of his best friend during his illness.

Beanie and Frankie were thrilled to find each other again after so many months apart!  They did every thing together and went through the next few months literally shoulder to shoulder.

Together we and Frankie did everything possible to give Beanie the love and support he needed for his best shot at recovery and the best quality of life he could possibly have.

Sadly Beanie grew weak last week.  He was admitted to the Pet ER in San Rafael with a high fever.  The veterinarians at that extraordinary pet hospital did everything they could to support him but after a valiant effort Beanie passed away on Saturday, October 13.

We took Frankie to see Beanie after he passed away so that he could understand that his best friend had gone.  Frankie sniffed and sniffed Beanie’s nose.  By doing this he seemed to understand Beanie was not breathing anymore and that his best friend would not be coming home.

We are heartbroken.  We now realize just how important and rewarding it is to give these senior dogs a loving home.  These dogs are so loving and deserving that we would like to adopt again and find a new friend for Frankie.

Beanie’s medical bills over the short time we had him mounted up to about $15,000.  We’ve  paid off that bill so that we can now adopt another senior dog or dogs who need a loving home.  We now realize that senior rescue dogs may not be adopted due to worries over possible medical expenses.

If you can help we want to start Beanie’s Fund to promote the adoption of senior dogs with serious medical conditions and help their guardians provide medical treatments that they otherwise could not afford!!  With the care of skilled veterinarians and willing caretakers we think these dogs have a chance at recovery.  But it all costs money.

Now that we have paid off Beanie’s bill we would like to raise additional money so we can pay for treatments for other senior rescue dogs  whose adoptive families do not have the money to treat their dogs for these complex conditions.  We plan to work directly with Beanie’s oncologist and his rescue organization to provide special funds for families who can’t afford to care for their seriously ill dogs.

To honor Beanie we want to pay it forward for other senior rescue dogs!
